Christmas Zombies (2020)

My quick rating – 1.8/10. Ok, I am going to start with the good. This is obviously a pretty happy family. I have to assume, out of sheer lockdown boredom, this family downloaded all the video editing software, zoom filters, backgrounds, and whatnot they could get their hands on and set out to create a Christian holiday picture for Christmas. But this is far better suited to be put up on their YouTube page and shared with their neighbors. Speaking of that, I normally would pop a link in here so you can check out the trailer, but instead, here is a link to the entire movie. I guess the Wright family agreed with me and made this one free. (I see since posting this, the Wright family changed their mind and made the movie private.) Does my review site have that much pull? Guess they didn’t like free publicity.

I am almost positive one of said neighbors is in it since the guy threatens some random for looking at his wife (whom he marries in the movie, how cute). The kids are cute, but even at times, you can see the “seriously, do I have to do this?” look on their faces. The plot is non-existent; a wronged elf wants to take over Xmas and get rid of Santa. So he creates some “zombies,” which are kids dressed up and acting like robots. Not Christmas Zombies nor robots, just stupid-looking, to take all the toys. Ok, the bad. They think this looks good. It doesn’t. The effects are absolute trash. The sound effects of shooting guns are off in timing, so bad. Heck, it is the USA you would think a drawn-out scene (in a 66-minute movie) would actually use real guns. Doesn’t mean you have to shoot them, but the shotgun they use at the range? You can clearly hear the plastic when they handle the thing. And Ashley Wright (she is the brains of this whole thing) apparently recoils from gunfire sometimes before the shot, other times well after. Each scene is just the people (actors is an insult to acting) doing their scene in front of a filtered in background. Not sure green screen is the right term when you still can see that telltale black border around the people, ala the first Superman movie. The climactic ending turns into them tossing ALL the footage they had together and editing it completely out of order. It might matter more if there were a story. Oh, I almost forgot the rap scene. The pain of that scene is excruciating, and you just know they thought they were funny. Pretentious is the best word for this whole thing. If you ever thought you could do better, trust me, you can do better than this. After seeing this being available on Youtube for free, I may have been a bit harsh, not about the movie, it is that bad, but I can see they get it as well and most likely had some fun while making this (the adults, the kids on the other hand…LOL)
